Posadas is a quiet Spanish town with a population of a little over 8000 people. The town has two churches, a senior school, medical centre, banks, bars and restaurants, supermarkets and many small shops.

Several times a year the town stops for Fiesta. This is the time for the ladies to dress up in their traditional dresses and the men to be macho on their horses. There is much dancing into the early hours. Nearby Cordoba is home to famous restaurants with Flamenco singers and dancers and here too are huge Fiestas on a dedicated site the size of six footbal fields.

The Villa is located about a kilometre from the centre of town. Between the town and the Villa is a low hill covered with Pine trees. Here you will find a restaurant Bar with outside dining area and spectacular views over the town and the rolling plain with its patchwork of fields.

Immediately north of Posadas lies the Parque Natural de la Sierra de Hornachuelos, part of a wide protected band in the Sierra Morena or Dark Mountains. Covering some 67,202 hectares this area is the largest natural park in the province of Cordoba and is home to the second largest colony of black vultures in Andalucia, in addition to a further three colonies of tawny vulture, not to mention the lynx, mongoose, otter and wolf, along with game such as deer and wild boar. Posadas is home to the beautiful Azure Magpie which can be seen in flocks of fifty – in fact Andalucia is the only part of the world where these lovely birds can be seen. On rare occasions one can see Hoopoe and Bee-eaters and Eagles. Pairs of Storks nest on Church steeples and on electric pylons.

Several large lakes within easy driving distance provide opportunities for water sports and sailing and a scenic backdrop for walking or horse riding.
